what a day!!!

Yesterday Tony Blair outlined his vision for the future, I feel saddened that he has failed to say sorry for taking this country into an illegal war and putting many lives in danger. The world may be a better place without Saddam Hussain, but Iraq is a much dangerous place. Let us hope it gets better. I am sorry to say that the troops need to leave ASAP.

Tonight is the night of forgiveness in Islam. It is called Shab e raat, the Muslims will stay awake tonight to remember Allah (SWT) and ask for forgiveness for our sins. This night is 15 days before Ramadan the month of fasting begins.

At the weekend I am attending the PCS Black Members Seminar in London, so will not post blog until next week.

Hello form a dull Manchester

The latest news on Ken Bigley is good, he is still alive and I hope he is not hurt. I want to say what a delight it was to see the two leaders from the Muslim Council of Britain who have travelled to Baghdad, this shows the world that the Muslims in Great Britain are great believers in human rights and will work with all to ensure that innocent civilians are not hurt or beheaded. I take comfort that if the kidnappers were to kill him they would have done it already. Lets hope and pray he is alive and well.

The Labour Party conference got under way yesterday, it is clear they see the ‘Liberal Democrats’ as a credible threat, hence the reason why cabinet ministers were attacking the Lib Dems. You know the Lib Dems have it right when the Tories and labour turn their fire on them. I hope the country joins the Lib Dems in the battle to change Britain.

its the weekend!

I have to say I am so happy it is the weekend! The pity is it flies by and Monday soon arrives. I have to say work has been good this week, I have been making progress on the project and now sense I have a great deal to look forward to.

Next weekend I am in London attending the PCS Black Members Seminar, this is the Civil Service trade union gathering for Ethnic Minority staff. This is my second time I am attending the event. I hope to build on the success of the united against fascism campaign last year and working to challenge racism and bigotry wherever it raises its ugly head.

This labour government deserves praise for its work on equality and diversity. The government ordered the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry, brought upto date race legislation, the publication of the Race Equality Scheme and the diversity legislation in the field of equality.

Have a good weekend all.

good day!!!

The ever facing problem in Iraq does not seem to get any better, Iraq was suppose to be on the up, lots of progress made, but we still see bombing and killing on a daily basis. I am not convinced that the case put by the new Iraqi government will resolve the matter so soon.

Let’s hope that things do get better for all our sakes. Well done to the Liberal Democrats for a fantastic conference, onwards and upwards.

hey

The recent kidnapping of hostages in Iraq is getting really out of hand the illegal occupation was to have brought stability and hope to the people. Iraq I more dangerous and unstable than during Saddam’s era, that’s a massive thing for the occupying forces to achieve. My heart goes out to the victim’s families in this distressful time. Let’ hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel for them. The UN Secretary General Kofi Annan is right that the war was illegal and that post war plans are a shamble, this is all of the making of the occupying forces. There were no terrorists in Iraq before, since the occupation the country has flooded with them and the responsibility for this lies with George Bush and Tony Blair. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Well it’s been quite some time since I wrote my blog, work s very busy. Last Wednesday I was in London for work meetings, during my busy schedule I took some time to listen to some of the pro hunting protesters outside parliament. Their case was tarnished by the storming of the House of Commons and the violence shown by a small minority of thugs intent on violence. The case for a hunting ban is great and the vast majority of the public support a ban.

The pro hunting lobby claim civil liberties and their freedom is being eroded, all I can say is where were the lobby when Iraq was illegally invaded, where were they when Stephen Lawrence was murdered, where were they when the rights of justice were taken away from innocent people prisoned in Camp Delta. It smacks of double standards that the pro hunting lobby claim a ban on hunting infringes their human rights. We need to understand that the group needs to make a better case if those of us who are keen human right campaigners will make the time to listen to their case.

Well done to the government for introducing this bill and MPs should stand firm against the unelected House of Lords. Great result for Manchester United against Liverpool last night, it ended 2-1 to Man Utd, good to see Rio Ferdinand back and on form. Lets hope this is the beginning of the revival watch out Arsenal and Chelsea.

Monday 6 September 2004

monday again!!!

To start with, I have to register my disgust at the siege at the Russian school. As a father I was only watching in horror as the siege took hold, there are many questions left to answer and it is time the Russians learnt that you cannot solve the recent crisis by military means, my heart goes out to all the victims and their friends and family in this distressful time.

The recent announcement that Simon Hughes MP was elected as President of the Liberal Democrats was fantastic news, he is good for the party and British politics.

Work is well, just waiting t begin the work and then we will be really busy.

Wednesday 1 September 2004

I am back to work after the bank holiday weekend. Spent most of it suffering from Flu, slowly recovering but a pain – can’t smell anything not even my after shave, issay miyake my favourite!

One thing I forgot to tell you is I support Manchester United football team; it has been a bad start to the season, players off injured or ill. Not a good way to start, five matches in we’re 5 points behind Arsenal and Chelsea, lets hope it gets better. Glad today Wayne Rooney is coming to United, cannot wait to see him.

Work is very demanding; I am in the process of ensuring that the Department’s Race equality Scheme is implemented successfully. Some good news the Department I work for has achieved 4th place out of the 10 best Public sector organisations in the Race for Opportunity Benchmarking, I believe we are a market leading and setting the standards for others to follow.

I have great pride in working for my employer and hope we get a decent pay rise.

Speak soon.
